Art for Rage - Mokole performing a tail lash combat maneuver on a hapless fomori. I love the Mokole. Weresaurians would be cool enough even if they only had a war form that was a humanoid crocodile, but instead they get a crazy dinosaur/dragon shape that they dream together from ancestral memories of the time of the Dragon Kings and age of the dinosaurs and other such coolness.

Thanks! The water turned out to be very handy for helping convey the action going on - glad I chose to put them standing in some. =)

Yeah, the water splash and the spear pulled it all together to convey how much force was behind the blow.

Yup,Looks really good,Gives a better idea of the force and conflict! :)

Yo!! sweet! I just got the book on mokole about 3 months ago and I´m trying to start a group here in Rio de Janeiro ^^. Mokole ROCK! The real guardian of Earths memory.(my character dreamed a two headed, 9 meter tall winged dragon form, and my main combat tatic is a fly-by iron-jaw grasp!!! With BOTH heads ^^. Just an Idead for another pic if you ever feel interested) FAVED!!!

Yeah, the Mokole really are awesome. I'm tempted to take another Mokole piece from the set to do just because this one was so much fun, but I've got so much other stuff to do I'm not sure I can squeeze it in. Glad you liked this one, though.

I love the wonderful texture of the Mokole's skin and the water. (Plus, Mokole are awesome! :) )
Great job! :+fav:

This is a great piece! Where'd you get the inspiration? :)

Thanks! One of the cards for a fanset of the Rage CCG was Tail Lash, a combat maneuver that did much more damage if used by a Rokea (wereshark) or Mokole (werecrocodile/alligator/other lizard). I volunteered to do the art, and decided that a Mokole would be fun to paint because their hybrid forms can be all dinosaur/dragonish and I could pretty much paint whatever I wanted. I needed something for the Mokole to be lashing with its tail, and I thought a fomori would be a nice target. The set was African-themed, so I gave the fomori the mask. I'm not sure when I decided on putting them in the water...I think it made sense at the time because most of the Mokole would live near water, and I thought it would be a fun challenge to paint the ripples and spray. I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out - I like the design for the Mokole, how the water turned out, and I thought it conveyed the action pretty well.
